Yes. Because of its variety of functions & capabilities.
Some tools, such as ArcSight, were not cost effective. With other competitor tools it became a toss up and our knowledge and relationship with SolarWinds became the deciding factor. Also, we know that SolarWinds tech support is terrific and that was a big concern considering we are stuck with a few applications in critical areas that have poor tech support.

We decided to purchase because SolarWinds Log & Event Manager has the ability to quickly type in a user name and get everything they have done in the last hour which is huge in troubleshooting a user’s issue. VPN and authentication issues are simple now. We are also able to watch for account changes that are unauthorized along with files and directory changes.

I have the benefit of providing summary information tables and charts to my Director and CTO. The charts can be taken at face value, but also have live/active links that allow them to drill into more specific details, such as a pre-defined time window or a custom window of time, and by event/error or type, so they can get additional detail as desired.
