In our facility, CPI training is mandated for Psychiatry, CCU, and ED. Our psychiatric facility has minimized the use of restraints and I feel the CPI de-escalation techniques have been a great help. Our staff have found that using verbal techniques properly can help an individual self-calm to the point that hands-on is very rarely used.
