It has taken a few years, but our organization has dumped spreadsheets, emails and other written material, and depends almost entirely on our Qlik solution to present data in a readable and meaningful way, allowing our business clients to both plan for the future and to navigate the present. Our Qlik enterprise reaches all boundaries of the organization, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Customer Service etc. But to get the most from an industrial strength product like Qlik, you must have a professional intervention. Some companies are not as willing to invest in this part of the solution. Hence the 4 stars.
Our “other” analytic solutions involved spreadsheets, for the most part. But I have kept up with competitive products like Tableau, and try as they might, their product offers a fast-to-market solution far less reliant on professional intervention, but they cannot, and this includes Qlik Sense, deliver the complex and seriously demanding logic and presentation our business clients require and expect. One fallacy of the data discovery community is the depth of solutions which can be created by end users with products like Qlik Sense and Tableau. In reality, the world of data is burdensome, fraught with pitfalls and work-arounds, extremely extensive, intimidating, not willing to give up its secrets, and not seamless with other data sources. Making sense of most often senseless and confusing data is critical to successful solutions. The majority of end-users do not have the skill-set and time heavy demands require. Taking it a step further, in my experience, most end-users are not appropriately and extensively knowledgeable nor comfortable with their own data, their own small slice of the enterprise! Hence the limit on solutions provided by self-service products.
