We chose the A10 over the F5 for its features being more similar to the ACE 4710. It was easier to deploy and maintain and the learning curve for me was very small.
Currently, we are using the A10 for SSL offload and loadbalancing. The Thunder product has far exceeded the performance of our ACE 4710.

We have F5, Riverbed/Brocade/Zeus, and the A10s. We prefer the A10s.
A10 has a much more familiar command-line interface (CLI) than F5, a clearer syntax, and a better config hierarchy.
Being familiar with Cisco-like commands and structure make these easy to deploy rapidly.

We have a much lower TCO with the Thunder ADC. We replaced our F5 environment for about what it previously cost us in maintenance on those devices.
The Thunder ADC product was super easy to use and configure. A10 Networks offers excellent customer and technical support.

We knew we could save on costs when we compared F5’s costs to A10’s.
The ease of deploying a load balancing environment within minutes. Simple command-line interface (CLI) commands married with a GUI interface makes navigation really easy.

A10 Networks solutions have allowed us to more quickly deploy services where ADC is needed. Their products have provided better redundancy and flexibility with upgrades on load-balanced solutions, too. And reduced support costs compared to F5 Networks.

While evaluating competitors A10 and F5, it came down to price, accessibility and application support. A very specific application-level network interface module was required by us, and A10 Thunder had the protocols and scripting support that had that. New ADC product features were delivered to complete our solution, also adding strategic value to the product.
A10 provides a high-performance, intelligent network interface solution to create a standardized interface to the rest of our application. As part of the engagement, A10 provided new AFlex ICAP integration support, significantly increased vThunder capacity, and a new traffic load-balancing algorithm specifically required by our application.
