We use Couchbase in conjunction with Elasticsearch to power a photo metadata management application.
We transitioned to Couchbase from Firestore as our primary document database and we saw performance improve by at least 10x in terms of read and write throughput. We no longer had to contend with arbitrary DBaaS limits. We could use Couchbase for a wider range of use cases due to Couchbase’s indexing and SQL++ features. The Go SDK was easier to use and resulted in about 50% fewer lines of code than the Firestore Go SDK. Overall everything has been great.
