Stay calm and focus on things that are important to keep the business running. Have grace with employees and peers understanding that this paradigm shift isn’t easy for everyone. Stay brief. In lieu of conversation, I am now noticing an uptick in very long, overly detailed e-mails. We need to be focused on producing results, not reading.

Rapid changes with little to no preparation (i.e. our AAD sync machines were upgraded by Microsoft without our knowledge and one upgrade failed), the expansive nature of O365, Admin knowledge.

Our biggest concern was security so we fast tracked MFA which can be very challenging depending on design. Inevitably, we ran into design challenges due to unknown networks, employees that weren’t fully integrated, resource constraints, etc.

I’m honestly not worried about our current AD infrastructure. COVID is mostly affecting our planning process.

We have postponed nearly all impactful changes to our AD environment including Domain Controller upgrades, as well as RADIUS server upgrades. Basically any change that could negatively affect VPN is on hold.

Cut yourselves some slack. Having to work full time remotely while having children you need to teach is a lot to ask someone. Give yourself breaks. Get up and walkabout. You’re also much more acutely focused at home, without the constant work interruptions. You are making a real difference every day, it’s just a different difference.
