Our facility began the Nozin journey in 2016-2017. The adoption of a robust approach to include nasal decolonization in conjunction with CHG bathing in our goal to reduce bioburden resulted in significant decrease in CP while maintaining low incidence of MRSA bacteremia. We estimated an annualized savings of over $200,000 with the reduction from CP, screening and SSI cost reductions.

Many staff use Nozin at work especially during influenza season or travel thus decreasing the number of sick calls. Nozin has empowered us to lift isolation precautions on patients with a history of MRSA. We were able to change our isolation policy for Contact Precautions for patients with history of or nasal colonization with MRSA, decrease risk for post-op pneumonia (pre-op use), and reduce risk for post-op infection (post-op use for all patients with an external incision), and reduce HAI infection risk in vulnerable patient populations (twice daily use in ICU). Overall supply costs were reduced, HAI risk was reduced, and patients received more timely care from staff due to not requiring full CP PPE for MRSA history/colonized patients.
