There are two primary use cases. The first is to gather as much information about active incidents as quickly as possible. The second use case is for retroactive evaluation of threats that occurred in the past. We can quickly tell if we were contact or impacted.
Drop-dead easy to use, and often negates the need to use tools like Maltego for deep analysis. Gives you a quick and accurate evaluation that can determine whether you actually need to dig deeper or not.

The combined power of AMP for Endpoints, FirePower, and Umbrella allows me to view what threats have been seen in my environment and exactly how serious they are. I can then analyze if it has been seen elsewhere and where.
The stream integration between Cisco Threat Response, AMP for endpoints, FirePower, and Umbrella allows me to spend less time tracking down where threats are at.

We use Umbrella as a content filter and Cisco AMP on our end-points to stop malicious threats. We also use Cisco Threat Response as a way to investigate what machines have been infected and blacklist malicious files.

In almost all cases threat response is used for incident response and dealing with malware intrusions. Threat Response is used to see if there is a network-wide issue, jump to investigations and analysis of files and make decisions on what course of action we take.
Absolutely, threat response gives us a level of visibility and supporting information the likes of which I have never seen in another product.
