I have had good success in reaching out to my students and their parents/families using Cisco Webex. It allows me to set a specific time, and re-occurring meetings, where I have complete control of who enters/has access to the meeting and what type of interaction we have. I had initially looked into using Zoom, but had SO many reports from other teachers of abuse and hacking, that I switched to Cisco Webex and have been completely happy with my student/parent interactions.
