4/5 Stars

How our organization uses HPE Vertica:

We are using HPE Vertica in a ‘sort of’ ad-hoc R&D environment where we need to bring in huge data sets and run analytics on them. This is specific to the group I work in, which is called the Advanced Technologies Group. The analytics we perform on the data sets allow us to do further work much faster. We also deployed HPE Vertica on a small HPC Cluster as opposed to enterprise commodity hardware, another reason we went with HPE Vertica. This is not how most companies would deploy, but we like to push the envelope in both software and hardware and seeing what is possible.

Would you recommend HPE Vertica?

Yes I would recommend it for specific use cases. Not every ‘analytics’ requirement can be met with Vertica, but definitely the traditional data warehouse concept can be replaced with HPE Vertica. There is also the ability to bridge HPE Vertica with HDFS or other in-house data stores as well as newer additions such as near real time streaming with Kafka and Spark.

4/5 Stars

4/5 Stars

How our organization uses HPE Vertica:

We use Vertica to store and query normalized security log data from a variety of sources at high rates, up to and exceeding 15K events per second. We make significant use of Live Aggregate Projections, which has sped up our ability to visualize data by a factor of 10. Our customer installations range from single node to 5 node clusters and are hosted or on-premise.

Would you recommend HPE Vertica?

Yes, I would recommend HPE Vertica on the basis that our organization does not have a dedicated DBA, and the three of us that make use of Vertica did so without strong DB experience. We have been able to setup clusters with little complication, load and age out data quickly, and achieve good query response times with the product.

How our organization uses HPE Vertica:

We have 3 node cluster for high availability and load balancing.
We predominantly use this DB for Data analytics to judge user behavior. It’s a single source data collection – understanding the behavior of consumers across multimedia with a representative panel of consumers, providing advertisers, media companies and market research firms, the opportunity for insights into this behavior.

Would you recommend HPE Vertica?
