Our organization uses everything available in Storage Resource Monitor, the very fact that once we installed it was operational in such a short time ‘right out of the box,’ with alerts, configurations, etc. It gave us instant visibility in a single pane of glass to see all the storage that we have.
We highly recommend SolarWinds Storage Resource Monitor – you ask why? The answer is very simple – ‘It is just a great product’ … for the following reasons:
Storage Resource Monitor permits you to do a dive deep into what is going on with storage – it has very deep visibility into the performance of our multi-vendor storage arrays and helps us with tracking how the application stack for storage issues affect application performance.
We no longer have to spend time with storage capacity planning – this tasks requires tremendous effort and time especially with our virtualized infrastructure. Creating spreadsheets and formulas to calculate this manually is a huge undertaking that is still error prone, with Storage Resource Monitor this is all done for you and so far we have found that the product is right on the money in giving us the best capacity planning solutions that we could ever come up with.

Primary driver was storage lineage that connects the applications to the disks and LUNs that are serving them. Being able to openly view storage performance metrics was huge for us.
Storage is a black box to most server and network admins. SRM sheds light on that box and uncovers issues for all three teams — storage, network and server — that might have otherwise gone unnoticed and uncorrelated without SRM.
